All Seam Rippers have blades that pull out, turn around and tuck back into the unit for safety. The photo on the left shows the blade closed. If you grabbed onto the silver part in the photo on the left and pulled it out, the blade would be showing. You turn the blade device around and stick the blunt end back into the wood handle to use the ripper as shown on the right. Single Seam Ripper - $28
These single seam rippers are on a necklace chain. The wood handle and blade pull away from the magnetic plug at the end of the chain so you can use the ripper.
